Job Summary :
We are seeking a Structural Engineer I to join our team. This entry-level position supports the design and engineering of structural components under the supervision of senior engineers. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience with structural design principles, proficiency in AutoCAD, and a strong interest in developing expertise in industrial and commercial structural projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist lead engineers with structural design tasks for foundations, supports, and other structures in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to design structural supports for equipment such as cable trays, pumps, motors, and buildings.
- Develop portions of project scopes, schedules, and budgets for design-related tasks under the direction of licensed engineers.
- Review and provide feedback on design work completed by drafting and design staff.
- Prepare project documentation for review by lead engineers, including :
Establishing design criteria and identifying applicable code requirements.
Determining multi-discipline design needs and coordination requirements.Preparing drawing lists and schedules.Conduct site visits with lead engineers to assist in defining project scope and collecting field data.Develop material specifications for steel, rebar, concrete, and related structural elements.Participate in internal design reviews (QA / QC) for structural deliverables.Build and maintain structural analysis models and perform calculations using structural software tools.Support planning, cost estimation, and scheduling activities as directed.Assist in the development and review of geotechnical reports.Apply relevant structural design codes and standards, including :IBC – International Building Code
ACI 318 – Building Code Requirements for Structural ConcreteAISC 360 – Specification for Structural Steel BuildingsASCE 7 – Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other StructuresSPCC and other applicable industry codes.Maintain and update standard templates and design details for structural foundations and steel structures.Perform structural load calculations using MS Excel, TEDDS, or similar software.Communicate effectively with peers and clients in written and verbal form.Qualifications & Requirements :
Education :Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from an accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Experience :0-2 years of structural engineering and design experience in a related field.
E.I.T. license preferred (Engineer-in-Training).Technical Skills & Knowledge :Basic understanding of steel sections, beam sizing, weight calculations, and layout drafting.
Familiarity with structural analysis software and load calculation tools.Knowledge of relevant building and structural codes and standards.Ability to work collaboratively under supervision while developing professional engineering judgement.
