Administrative Assistant
The City of Oregon City has an amazing opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join the Community Development Department. Community Development is responsible for working with the community to guide growth and development in Oregon City. We are a small but mighty department comprised of the Planning Division and Building Division. The Community Development Director is the department head. The Administrative Assistant position is an exciting opportunity to support these two divisions in complex future facing projects such as housing and development policy and code updates and providing customer service for people looking to develop their property. As the Administrative Assistant in this dynamic and energetic department, you will be one of the first people to greet customers at the counter, on the phone, or through email. You will answer questions and provide accurate information about Community Development processes and policies. You will support the director, two managers, and the entire staff with various administrative tasks such as :
This position will also support, setup, coordinate, and clerk all commissions, boards, and committees staffed by Community Development. This consists of the Planning Commission, Historic Review Board, Natural Resource Committee, Citizen Involvement Committee, and the Developer Stakeholder Group. These meetings are typically in the evening hours (with the exception of the Developer Stakeholder Group) and can run until 10 : 00 p.m. All boards and committees currently meeting in person, with a virtual / hybrid option for the public. The position typically requires knowledge equivalent to completion of college-level business courses and four years of progressive administrative specialist experience. May require a valid driver's license.
