Medical Assistant (Bilingual)

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician and / or designee.

Essential responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information in patient medical records, preparing treatment rooms and patients for examination, assisting clinicians with patient care, inventorying, ordering, and replenishing medical supplies, giving treatments and performing routine laboratory tests as required.

Schedules appointments, performs clinical tasks, completes appropriate forms, administers medications including injections, cleans, processes, sterilizes and checks instruments, performs computer data entry functions, and adheres to customer service standards.

Anticipates customer needs, takes proactive steps to meet those needs, responds to alarms and patient requests, facilitates customer utilization of resources, ensures a clean and functional work environment, and actively participates in departmental professional development activities.

Manages difficult or conflict situations constructively, takes accountability for own actions, acts as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members, and supports a collaborative labor-management partnership environment.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Grade 180

Basic qualifications include minimum six (6) months of experience or successful completion of Kaiser Permanente externship, high school diploma / GED, completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California, basic life support, ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information, ability to effectively present information both verbal and written, willingness to work in a labor management partnership environment, demonstrated ability to use personal computer, medical terminology certificate or equivalent experience, and bilingual (English / Spanish) level I.
