Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking two experienced Microsoft .NET Web Developer professionals to support the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of custom applications built within the Microsoft .NET environment and backed by Oracle databases. These full-time roles (40 hours / week) support new development, modernization of legacy applications, and enhancements to existing systems. Assignments involve collaborating with project managers, architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, maintainable applications that align with State of Wisconsin and DNR technical, accessibility, and security standards.
This hybrid position requires weekly onsite work in Madison, WI (40% onsite / 60% remote). Candidates must reside in Wisconsin or relocate within 30 days of starting, with all remote work required to be performed within the state.
Responsibilities
Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain applications within the Microsoft .NET environment.
Develop and enhance web applications using .NET Framework, MVC, C#, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.
Design and support Oracle database components, including schemas, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Modernize legacy applications and integrate new features into existing systems.
Perform functional and non-functional testing, including planning, execution, and documentation.
Collaborate with architects, project managers, developers, and business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
Manage Azure DevOps workflows including work items, source control, branching, and CI / CD pipelines.
Support user acceptance testing and contribute to production release activities.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, technical meetings, and backlog refinement.
Produce and maintain technical documentation such as system designs, data flows, and application support materials.
Ensure application development complies with DNR and State of Wisconsin security, accessibility, and technical standards.
Provide ongoing maintenance and support for additional applications as assigned.
Complete onboarding and orientation onsite, follow all equipment and security policies, and adhere to agency work hour requirements (including occasional after-hours deployments).
Qualifications
8+ years advanced application development experience in Microsoft .NET.
8+ years experience with .NET Framework, MVC, C#, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.
6+ years applying accessibility and security standards in application development.
8+ years relational database development with Oracle or SQL Server, including : Database design, Stored procedures, SQL optimization / performance tuning
4+ years experience using Azure DevOps for : Work item tracking, Source control, CI / CD pipelines
Experience with object-oriented design and secure coding principles.
Experience developing Web APIs.
Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and supporting production applications.
Experience with SDLC methodologies, Agile / Scrum delivery, and IT best practices.
Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and timemanagement skills.
Ability to independently manage workload, research solutions, and meet deadlines.
Experience creating technical documentation and explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
Preferred
Experience working within the Wisconsin DNR or other government agencies.
Familiarity with Microsoft tools including SharePoint, Teams, Word, and Excel.
Experience with GIS technologies, particularly Esri JavaScript APIs.
Experience working with Power BI or other reporting tools.
Codeworks discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $40 and $60. This range is subject to change based on job-related factors, including client requirements where applicable.
