Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Progressive Care Unit Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum of 2 years in a similar specialty License : Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have : - Experience in PCU / DOU / IMC / Step-down - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias - Knowledge of Rapid Response Teams - Management of pacemakers (temporary and permanent) - Experience with pre / post cardiac catheterization and surgery - Proficient in blood product administration - Competence in central and peripheral line care and management - Familiarity with starting IVs and managing insulin drips - Knowledge of wound care, including wound vacs Description : The RN will care for patients in a progressive care setting. The nursing ratio is 1 : 4. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Holiday and charge RN assignments may be required. Weekend shifts are part of the scheduling requirements. The unit handles complex post-operative patients from thoracic and vascular surgeries. Common procedures include CABG, valve replacement, and aortic aneurysm repair. Patients may have multiple comorbidities, including heart failure and diabetes. Skills required include the use of telemetry and management of various IV drips. The role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care. Strong emphasis is placed on critical thinking and rapid response skills. Additional responsibilities include wound care and pain management protocols. The unit is designed to support patients with advanced medical needs.
