Job description

The Miami, FL Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting Academic Gastroenterologists. We are an academic, teaching high complexity medical center, affiliated with the University of Miami. Opportunity to be actively involved in teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for both inpatients and outpatients in the gastrointestinal service.
  • Perform and supervise colonoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy.
  • Perform and supervise upper endoscopy with biopsy, polypectomy, balloon, and savoy dilation.
  • Familiarity with variceal banding.
  • Proficiency in video capsule endoscopy.
  • Teach and supervise fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Lead subspecialty areas in advanced endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, general gastroenterology, or GI motility.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Clinical and academic experience in gastroenterology.
  • Subspecialty interests in advanced endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, general gastroenterology, or GI motility.

    • Benefits

  • Competitive academic salary for Miami : $335K-$400K per year depending on qualifications.
  • Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year.
  • Guaranteed salary increases.
  • One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state is permissible.
  • $1,000 per year CME stipend and 5 paid days for conferences and speaking engagements.
  • Monday–Friday schedule; leave by 5 PM most days.
  • Minimal call, supported with GI fellows once every 4–5 weeks.
  • Liability protection with tail coverage provided.
  • No physician employment contract.
  • 26 days paid vacation plus 13 paid sick days per year with unlimited carry‑over.
  • 11 federal holidays with pay.
  • Federal retirement plan.
  • Separate 401(k) with partial agency match.
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Nationwide mobility.
  • Assistance with payment of medical school loans up to $200,000 may be available.
