Private Capital Investors Associate
The Private Capital Investors (PCI) team at New York Life Investments is one of the top investors in the traditional debt private placement market. We provide medium to long-term capital to a wide variety of institutions including public and private companies, cooperatives, endowments, and not-for-profits. PCI offers structured financing solutions including senior debt, master note facilities, and credit tenant leases, with deep sector expertise across infrastructure, utilities, structured finance, REITs, energy, media, and sports.
The PCI Associate will play a meaningful role on deal teams to help analyze and execute new investment opportunities while also supporting portfolio monitoring responsibilities. This role will also support strategic initiatives across the group in support of new origination and AUM growth. Additionally, the position will combine elements of coordination with internal operations and legal teams to ensure successful closings, payment reconciliations and post-closing support. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual with a growth mindset, capable of juggling numerous tasks without sacrificing attention to detail. This Associate will gain experience across the full lifecycle of private placement investingfrom deal screening to closing to ongoing management.
Support new deal origination and underwriting activities
Support data collection and analyses for various origination initiatives
Prepare financial models and support the underwriting of new investments
Assist with the preparation of credit memorandums for new transactions
Assist with maintenance of timely reporting and closing documentation of new transactions
Conduct regular portfolio management, including tracking covenant compliance and monitoring sector and market trends
Prepare marketing materials and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders
Assist with other portfolio reports and projects as required
Bachelors degree required; preferred concentration in finance, accounting, economics, or business
1-3 years of experience in fixed income, investment banking, finance or related field
Strong data analytics and familiarity with interpreting and maintaining large data sets
Strong quantitative skills, with an ability to learn and conduct financial statement analysis and financial forecasts
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word as well as Bloomberg
Strong team player with the ability to manage and prioritize numerous tasks
Ability to understand current events that may impact business issues
Experience preparing credit or investment memos
Exposure to private markets, investment compliance, or structured finance
Working knowledge of data visualization tools or report builders (e.g., Tableau, DealCloud dashboards)

Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
