Job description

Chief Clinical & Science Officer

Location : Plymouth Meeting, PA (Corporate office), with travel requirements throughout areas in which BII has treatment centers in PA, NJ, and DE.

Compensation : Starting at $173,100 annually

Behavior Interventions, Inc. (BII) is recruiting for the combined position of Chief Clinical and Science Officer (CCO / CSO).

As a member of the executive leadership team, this pivotal role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The CCO / CSO oversees Applied Behavior Analysis children's services and affairs, regulatory affairs, quality and safety, and clinical development and operations across nine treatment centers in three states, for over 800 families. BIIs clinical department includes more than 600 clinical employees. The CCO / CSO supervises and closely collaborates with the Clinical Director, two Assistant Clinical Directors, and the quality improvement department.

The CCO / CSO will be a key leader in driving innovation and introducing new ideas to the organization. This role supports existing service opportunities for our families and requires a leader who demonstrates excellence in strategic thinking, effective communication, and organizational management.

About the Position : Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

Objective # 1 : Responsible for development of the clinical department and services :

  • Leads the clinical leadership team with vision and collaborative decision-making to achieve company objectives.
  • Identifies and implements quality control measures while supporting staff to provide exceptional services. Services include Parent Training, Behavior Consultation, Assessments, and Behavior Change Interventions based on the science of behavior analysis.
  • Uses the science of behavior analysis to teach skills to direct reports, their supervisees, and caregivers.
  • Conducts scheduled meetings including supervision of direct reports, team meetings, and other department meetings.
  • Participates as needed in direct observation of clinical staff providing feedback on performance, ensuring satisfactory implementation of treatment protocols, program development, and supervision of behavior analysts and behavior technicians.
  • Implements strategies to support clinical staff in meeting and exceeding expectations.
  • Works with clinical leadership and human resources in employee hiring and retention.
  • Stays informed about emerging opportunities, best practices, trends and challenges.

Objective # 2 : Complete research to improve service delivery, outcomes, and access.

  • Leads / engages in research projects related to client treatment, staff training, caregiver training, and other aspects of staff performance and delivery of quality treatment.
  • Presents and / or publishes behavior analysis research.
  • Coordinates research initiatives with universities.
  • Objective #3 : Maintain administrative and non-clinical functions to ensure the continued success of families served, treatment teams, employees and the organization.

  • Upholds BIIs standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate written documentation.
  • Attends assigned trainings and scheduled meetings.
  • Operates as a mandated reporter maintaining awareness of signs or reports of suspected abuse or neglect and reporting to the appropriate state reporting line.
  • Maintains knowledge of current research and best practices in the field of behavior analysis; attends trainings and networking events and conducts independent research.
  • Maintains all required clearances, credentials and certifications including BCBA through the BACB, and LBS through the PA Board of Medicine.
  • Objective #4 : Engages in professional development activities and supports the professional development of Behavior Interventions team members.

  • Develops and maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis through interaction with other ABA professionals and ongoing professional development within and outside of Behavior Interventions. Maintains certification by meeting training and supervision standards of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Collaborates with other leadership team members to promote the ongoing professional development of all clinical professionals within the organization.
  • Offers BACB supervision experience opportunities to supervisees in the BACB Supervision Experience (BSE) program.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of trainings for BIIs Clinical and QI teams.
  • Leads R2P Research to Practice initiatives within and outside the organization.
  • Requirements :

    Education and Credentials :

  • Ph.D. / Ed.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis (PhD candidates will receive consideration)
  • 5+ years of experience as a BCBA (BCBA-D preferred)
  • Experience developing organizational training programs for BCBAs / RBTs that include BACB CEUs, and developing / implementing quality improvement initiatives that improve clinical outcomes
  • Innovative and detail-oriented with the ability to develop and implement new support services.
  • Maintains LBS through the PA Board of Medicine OR LBA through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs
  • Ability to pass federal and state background checks and show valid identification.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Key Qualifications & Experiences

    Clinical :

  • 10 years of experience preferred (or 4,200 hours) developing and implementing home-based behavior analytic programs and completing assessments
  • Experience with VBMAPP, PEAK, PFA / SBT, AFLS preferred
  • Experience with PA insurance provider requirements preferred OR willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated success advancing clinical, operational, quality and safety outcomes.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary methods of clinical quality measurement and improvement, including experience in leveraging electronic medical record systems
  • Leadership and Management :

  • Extensive clinical and operational management and supervisory experience with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and lead a dynamic team of employees, fostering collaboration, cohesion, and a strong sense of shared purpose across the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization and effectively collaborate with others to meet company objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information to identify appropriate solutions and develop effective new strategies.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, problem solving, negotiation, and team building with the ability to set and maintain standards of performance, encourage team participation, and motivate others.
  • Experience developing and implementing trainings.
  • Demonstrated experience building high performing teams by integrating a diversity of skills and personalities and creating a shared purpose.
  • Administrative :

  • Ability to develop, interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in maintaining a high level of organization with strong attention to detail and ability to respond quickly and appropriately to varying situations.
  • Ability to complete assignments by their due date through effective time management and ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated experience using technology to improve organizational processes and efficiency.
