Accountant I - WEC Detention Facility (Open)

The Accountant I at WEC Detention Facility is responsible for performing routine financial tasks related to detainee funds and supporting the administration of facility technology systems. Under the supervision of the Business Manager, this position helps maintain accurate fiscal records, oversees detainee tablet activity, and serves as the facility's primary point of contact for coordinating staff computer access and system logins. The role supports daily operations, ensures compliance with ICE and NDCS policies, and assists in maintaining secure and organized financial and system records. The WEC Detention Facility houses adults who have been adjudicated and are awaiting deportation. Duties :

• Detainee financial accounts
• Detainee tablet and kiosk support
• Staff computer access coordination
• Cash handling and reconciliation
• Record keeping and data entry

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications : Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.

Preferred Qualifications : Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance field; proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel; experience with computer software programs. Classifying accounting transactions, maintain, and reconcile accounts experience.

Other : Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order : medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.
