Description :

The Charge Nurse RN will provide general nursing care to residents.

The RN contributes to overall resident care, guided by the resident care plan and facility policies.

The position involves direct supervision of Nursing Assistants.

Responsibilities include making nursing assessments regarding the health status of residents.

The RN will make nursing diagnoses, which will serve as the basis for care strategies.

Developing a plan of care based on assessments and nursing diagnoses is essential.

The RN will implement nursing care and evaluate responses to interventions.

Provisions for outside physician visits must be made to ensure residents' medical needs are met.

Effective communication with physicians and family members is required to meet resident needs.

Teaching residents, families, and staff is necessary to ensure understanding of the plan of care.

The RN should understand, promote, and implement the choices philosophy and resident rights.

Preparing, administering, and charting routine and emergency medication and treatments as ordered is part of the role.

Demonstrating knowledge of medications and their side effects is crucial.

The clinical record must reflect accurate and timely documentation to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Safety and infection control procedures must be performed to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, participation in quality management is required to meet appropriate standards of care.

The RN will function as the primary contact person on the assigned shift.

Supervision of resident assistants is necessary to ensure compliance with the plan of care.

Knowledge, skills, and ability in IV therapy, including initiating IVs and medication administration, must be demonstrated.
