Overview :
This position is responsible for providing legal guidance to the Executive Office. The Construction Attorney is responsible for providing comprehensive legal oversight and counsel for all agreements, permits, and legal communications, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across multiple departments, including Real Estate, Construction Management, Planning, Public Works, Transportation, Housing, and Residential Construction. The individual advises the Executive Office and on real estate project planning, land use, and infrastructure development, ensuring that all activities comply with codes, federal regulations, and applicable funding requirements. Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts and intergovernmental agreements; advises on construction and development projects; and provides legal guidance on land use, permitting, and related regulatory matters. The Construction Attorney collaborates closely with department directors and the Legal Department to identify potential legal risks, develop compliance strategies, and implement policies and procedures that promote efficiency and mitigate liability. Additionally, the incumbent provides strategic legal oversight of lease agreements, business permits, service line agreements, commercial construction contracts, utility permitting, and inter-agency cooperative agreements, serving as the primary liaison to the Legal Department.
