Job descriptionCalculate the cut length of iso-bend pipe to achieve the correct finish length and mark the cut-off points. Secure iso-bend pipe and cut to length with pipe cutting tool. Set-up pipes sever machine and cut pipe to length without cutting the liner. Install the correct flange / stub end combination and weld pipe housing in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications. Recheck overall spool length with allowance for liner thickness and complete the inspection sheet. Assemble and tack weld fitting and special products using a press or other appropriate tooling. Weld fittings and special products complete in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications. Perform all welding in the position as specified by the Procedure and welder qualification. Set-up welders with correct filler wire and compressed gas at the proper pressure setting. When required, assemble, tack and tig weld fittings in accordance with manufacturing procedures. Use blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering or customer supplied drawings and specifications. Use ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, micrometres, and callipers. Verify protective shield and restricted area signs are in place before welding. Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and carts. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift. Fabrication experience and the ability to work from blueprints and sketches. Must pass Crane welding qualifications test, which includes a plate test (filet welds) on an 8-inch coupon, schedule 40 pipe, open root, 3 passes (root downhill, hot pass uphill, cover pass uphill, and must pass X-ray requirements. Five or more years welding experience in a manufacturing environment. ASME Section IX MIG certification or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable period. Three or more years' experience with carbon steel.
