Job Title : Manufacturing Engineer
Location : 10 Cobham Drive, Orchard Park, NY 14127
Work Schedule : Monday – Friday, 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM (Onsite, Flexible)
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will support production operations by developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes, work instructions, and tooling to ensure product quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical assembly, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues, improve workflow, and support key operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Learn, implement, and comply with all site safety protocols, ergonomics guidelines, and Management of Change procedures.
- Participate in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training and certification if required.
Process Development & Documentation
Create and maintain detailed Manufacturing Processes and Work Instructions in compliance with MSOP standards.Develop and update Oracle ERP routings to support production requirements.Inspection & Tooling
Identify the need for standard or special gauging, inspection methods, and specialized equipment / tooling in production areas.Problem Solving & Non-Conformance
Provide timely support for resolving production-related issues.Lead or assist in completing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with MSOP standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams.Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Drive improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY) and Overall Process Effectiveness (OPE) .Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to reduce waste and variability in manufacturing processes, improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Support 5S initiatives and visual management systems on the production floor.Work Cell Design & Integration
Assist in the development, integration, and validation of work cell designs to optimize production flow and efficiency.Collaboration & Communication
Partner with Quality Engineering, Design Engineering, Tooling, and Production teams to improve workflow, throughput, safety, and product quality.Participate actively in cross-functional meetings, cell reviews, and customer calls to support ongoing manufacturing initiatives.Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to hand assembly, mechanical fasteners, and product testing .Preferred Qualifications
Experience in developing and supporting electrical / electro-mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes , including TIG or electron beam welding, vacuum furnace brazing, and machining .Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Visual Control implementation.Background in tooling development for mechanical and electrical product assembly.Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.Proficiency in creating and using PFMEAs (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) .Proven track record in continuous improvement and root cause analysis projects.📩 Please reach out at nitin.rai@compunnel.com or call 520-366-3115 .
