Advanced Heart & Lung Transplant, Critical Care Unit Medical Director- AdventHealth Orlando

AdventHealth Orlando is looking for a dynamic and energetic physician with leadership experience to join and lead our Cardiovascular ICU Team at AdventHealth Orlando.  Our new state of the art, 32 bed CVICU is also known as our Advanced Cardiac Surgical Unit (ACSU).

This position is a result of programmatic and companywide growth as we continue to support and establish high quality Quaternary Critical Care services to our Central Florida Region.  The physician would join AHMG Critical Care Specialists of Central Florida, a 100 plus employed provider intensive care team, which reaches over 15 other AdventHealth campuses throughout Central, North and West Florida, in addition to providing tele-medicine services across multiple states.  We take care and encounter over 20,000 critically patients a year as a practice.

Position & Program Highlights :

• Dedicated administrative time and clinical involvement managing ECMO, VAD, cardiothoracic, heart and lung transplant patients.
• Collaborate with experienced and established intensivists, cardiology and pulmonology transplant medical / care team to help continue to grow and establish a high quality and highly sustainable Cardiovascular, Heart & Lung Transplant Critical Care program.
• Leading the clinical quality for CVICU care, including quality metrics and quality assurance teams
• Active participation in regional, national, and international meetings and conferences
• Education of APPS, medical critical care fellows and new staff along with community outreach; and program development.
• The medical director would also be involved with building a core team of physicians working to improve the breadth and intensity of the Advanced Cardiac Surgical Unit.
• This leadership position would report directly to the Executive Medical Director of AHMG Critical Care and have responsibilities to the campus Chief Medical Officer at AdventHealth Orlando along with service line leaders within the Heart, Lung & Vascular and Transplant Institutes

• In Orlando we have a full comprehensive Transplant Institute that includes both thoracic and abdominal transplant teams.
• Our team performs over 35-50 hearts, 15-20 lungs, and 30-50 VADs per year with multi organ transplant capability
• Recognized as a Platinum ECMO Center and considered one of busiest centers in the Unites States

Additional responsibilities but not limited to :

The Medical Director will also provide administrative liaison activity with key core members surrounding the CVICU structure at AdventHealth Orlando.  These include physician members of the medical staff, Emergency Department, Department of Surgery and other critical care units, respiratory therapy, imaging, nursing services, pharmacy, clinical laboratories, and referring health care facilities and providers.

The Medical Directors primary location will be located at AdventHealth Orlando, Florida just outside downtown Orlando close to the charming Winter Park community.  AdventHealth has a hospital based organ procurement organization (Our Legacy is a top performing OPO in the USA).

The Heart Lung and Vascular Institute (HLVI) at AdventHealth is one of the busiest centers of its kind in the nation. We are a leading provider of cardiovascular and thoracic services among Medicare patients with national rankings that include : #1 in Cardiology volume, #1 in Vascular Surgery volume, #5 in Thoracic Surgery volume and #8 in Open Heart Surgery volume. HLVI is centered in a quaternary facility with 1400 beds, known as AdventHealth Orlando with a beautiful Ginsburg Tower. This 15-story sanctuary of healing offers patients a full range of comprehensive heart and vascular care, including 12 hybrid operating rooms housing electrophysiology, vascular and invasive cardiology.
