Purchasing Associate – Keep Our Feed Operations Running Smoothly

At Heritage Cooperative , our Purchasing Associates play a vital role in keeping our feed mills supplied with the ingredients needed to produce high-quality feed for livestock and pets across the region. If you enjoy working with numbers, coordinating details, and communicating with vendors and teammates to solve problems, this is a great opportunity to build valuable business and logistics experience in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Track ingredient inventories to ensure the right materials are available for daily feed production.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place replenishment orders to maintain adequate supply without overstocking.
  • Create and process purchase orders in line with company purchasing procedures.
  • Work with vendors and carriers to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate ingredient transfers between feed plants or departments to balance supply across locations.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in the inventory management system.
  • Assist with reporting, documentation, and communication to keep plant operations running efficiently.

  • What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Clear communication skills for working with vendors, drivers, and internal teams.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new software systems.
  • A positive, reliable attitude and willingness to learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office , especially Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
  • Experience with inventory, purchasing, or ERP systems (training will be provided).
  • Math and problem-solving skills for tracking and adjusting ingredient quantities.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or agriculture-related environments is helpful but not required.
  • Understanding of feed ingredients or bulk material handling is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
