JOB SUMMARY
Job Title : Social Emotional Learning Assistant
Program : Thrive to Five
Classification : Non-Exempt / Full Time
Location : This position requires travel to different locations throughout Lancaster County.
Duties & Responsibilities
Function 1 : Classroom Practices
- Follows schedules / daily routines and lesson plans of each classroom where assigned.
- Follows all safety and health procedures and systems, i.e. child count system.
- Uses positive guidance techniques for children by implementing the Responsive Scale of Discipline and implementing trauma-informed strategies.
Function 2 : Mental Health Services / Universal
Makes visual supports for individual classrooms and at the center level.Works in assigned classrooms to support classroom staff and children with high needs.Assists the Early Childhood Behavior Specialists and Social-Emotional Learning Coaches in entering BIRs into BIR database.Function 3 : Mental Health Services / Targeted and Tertiary
Makes visual supports for individual children at the targeted and tertiary level.Implements their assigned role in Teacher Support Plans and / or Behavior Support Plans.Collects data on the challenging behavior and targeted replacement behavior as outlined in the Teacher Support Plan.Function 4 : Disabilities Support
Makes visual supports for individual children needing personalized visual supports to meet their needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Plan.Follows the strategies outlined in children’s Individualized Education Plan.Provides supports in classrooms where there are a high number of children with involved Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) needing personalized supports.Function 5 : Family Services / Family Engagement
Assists the Social-Emotional Learning Coaches in implementing program workshops around PBIS.When appropriate, participates in the multi-disciplinary team meetings.When appropriate, attends Home Visits with the Social-Emotional Learning Coaches.Qualifications & Job Factors
High school diploma or GED; Child Development Associate Credential OR is working toward credential within 2 years after beginning employment in this position; at least 2 years experience working with at-risk preschool children
