Overview
This is a part-time temporary position. This position may end at any time based on the needs of the department. Under the general supervision of the Child Abuse Unit supervisors, the Deputy Investigator performs duties related to criminal investigations of child abuse and related allegations in close collaboration with Child Protective Services, the Children's Assessment Center, and the Harris County District Attorney's Office personnel.
Responsibilities
- Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects
- Attend Forensic Interviews
- Prepare detailed reports
- Manage a caseload
- Subpoena medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation
- File charges
- Testify in court
- Assist other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and necessary

Qualifications
Must be an Honorably Retired Peace OfficerA minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcementMust have an active TCOLE Peace Officer LicensePrior experience in conducting conflict resolutionMust have good attendanceKnowledge
Excellent understanding and application of the Texas Penal Code as it pertains to criminal offensesSkills
Proficiency in the use of JWEB, SUPERION / RMS, and DIMSProficient in report writing and communication skills with strong organizational skillsAbilities
Manage a heavy caseloadPrioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlinesHandle stressful investigations involving physical and sexual abuse of childrenWork independently, as well as in a team environmentBilingualInterview and interrogation experience or trainingWork Environment
Work with local, state, and federal law enforcement partnersOffice and field-related responsibilitiesPhysical Demands
