Description of Job
This position will provide medical assistance to patients in a clinical setting under the direction of a registered nurse at the Denver Complex. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following :
Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED. Special Qualifications : Applicant must possess a valid, active Nurse Aide Certification (CNA) from the State of Colorado. Ensure that the 'Work Experience' section of the application is complete and contains all relevant work experience related to the position that you are applying for. Self-control, a strong sense of ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations; Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout their shift; Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high-stakes interaction. Able to work with inmates of diverse backgrounds and functional levels. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate positively and professionally with inmates and staff; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to read and comprehend the English language; Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing; Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind. Strong understanding and knowledge of the complexities of a multi-disciplinary health care delivery system; Ability to problem solve critically to effectively resolve issues; Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality inmate care; Ability to operate independently within the scope of a CNA; Must be of high integrity to handle confidential health care information to include all inmate records; Basic knowledge of computer systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing certified nursing assistance in a correctional environment. Current CPR Certification (attach certification). Current First Aid Certification (attach certification). Experience working with patients who have multiple disabilities to include both physical and mental. Experience working with the senior population. Hospice experience.
Conditions of Employment
Must be 18 years of age; Possess a valid driver's license; Possess a high school diploma or GED; Have NO felony convictions; Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States; Successfully pass all modules of the 6 week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training; Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics; Willing and able to travel; Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule; TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire. Successful completion of a background investigation is required. Should applicant's background reveal criminal charges, it shall be the responsibility of the applicant to provide the Department of Corrections with written / official disposition of any charges.
