Departmental Relations and Strategic Initiatives Advisor (StratAdvsr2,General Govt BU-P) at Seattle Public Utilities (SPU). This role advances long-term strategies and resolves emergent issues that require independent initiative and cross-department collaboration across SPU, City Departments, and regional partners, addressing population growth, climate adaptation, infrastructure renewal, and equity.

Responsibilities

• Negotiated deal making, problem solving and coordination to foster One-City solutions and resolve policy and planning coordination issues between SPU and City Departments and agencies; represent SPU interests in inter-departmental teams and facilitate Joint Executive Team agenda setting and issue resolution with departments such as Transportation, Parks, Fire, City Light, and Arts and Culture.
• Develop joint project and operational agreements and partnerships with King County, regional entities, developers, NGOs and external stakeholders to advance utility service delivery, collaborations, and innovations.
• Provide external strategic initiatives, policy and analytic support; project manage or support emergent priorities from the Mayor’s Office, City Council or external partners (e.g., City-wide initiatives, emergencies, major developments, land use, or property coordination issues).
• Lead SPU-wide strategic initiatives, policy development, and internal coordination; support cross-cutting strategy and innovation work, transparency in permitting, ratepayer-facing policy, annexation coordination, frontline staff safety and wellbeing, and related data dashboards and policy efforts.

Compensation and Benefits

The full salary range for this position is $54.60 - $81.93 per hour. SPU offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave; medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance for employees and dependents.
