Legal Secretary
This position is responsible for providing specialized secretarial support to attorneys by preparing legal documents such as petitions, briefs, legal opinions, pleadings, motions, complaints, and indictments.
We need a very dependable, reliable person, who takes initiative, works well under pressure, and is very self-reliant. This position will be located at 222 East Javelina Ave. Mesa, Arizona 85210.

We require :
Two years of experience in a legal setting and knowledge of legal documents and proceedingsHigh school diploma or GEDSuccessful completion of a post-secondary secretarial training program, a paralegal training program, or post-secondary education may substitute for up to one year of the experience requirementWe also value :
Preference may be given to applicants with previous Maricopa County Attorneys Office experience, a certificate of completion from an accredited secretarial school, a legal secretary training program, or to those with work experience in a public or private law firm as a legal secretaryJob contributions :
Under the direction of deputy county attorneys, assist with the preparation and filing of correspondence, legal documents, and briefsType and prepare petitions and related charging documentsFile documents with the courtCreate and maintain case filesEnter and retrieve case information from various databasesUtilize external databases to access and retrieve criminal history and case informationPull case files for court calendarsPhotocopy / scan discovery, probation materials, and other documents / materialsRedact documents for disclosure / discoverySchedule interviews with victims and witnessesRetrieve and distribute electronic pleadings and minute entriesHand deliver and pick up documents on and off-sitePick up, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mailAnswer multi-line telephone, screen and transfer calls, take messages, answer general information questions from the public, other County departments, and outside agencies, receive and greet incoming visitorsMaintain conference room reservation calendarWorking conditions :
Works at least one holiday a year, is a backup for one holiday per year, and backs up the weekend Legal Support Specialist several times per yearHybrid work is available after six months, based on business needsOffice setting in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations.
