Clinical Document Specialist
Eye Specialty Group is seeking a full-time Clinical Document Specialist to help make a difference. The Clinical Documentation Specialist assists the ASC with obtaining all necessary documentation to enable patients to obtain their surgeries. This position liaises with the clinic to ensure that the clinic provides orders and surgical calculations, such as lens picks. Detail orientation and time management is required for this role, while providing the highest standards of patient care.
Essential Skills / Responsibilities :
- Verifies and updates physician orders in EHR.
- Ensures all surgical charts are complete and available in the surgery center a minimum of 3-days prior to surgery day.
- Communicates with physicians regarding lens picks, specialty lenses, Argos plans, need for repeat special testing.
- Recognizes and prioritizes issues and concerns and resolves these with critical thinking skills.
- Maintains updated trainings and knowledge of both the clinic EMR and ASC EMR.
- Completes EMR tasks timely.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR certified preferred.
- Adheres to HIPAA Compliance Plan.
- Completes compliance trainings as requested and required by law.
- Communicates internally with all Physicians, Staff, and Patients.
- Communicates externally with vendors,
- Travels to other clinics as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience :
One year of college or technical school; OR six months to one year related experience and / or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills :
Demonstrated excellence in verbal communication, as well as, written communication.Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills.Project Management.Time Management.Basic math aptitude.Critical thinking skills for identifying problems and resolutions in a fast-paced environment.EHR proficiency or experience in medical software.Attributes :

Ability to sit / stand / walk and talk / hear as the job requires for long periods of time, as well as, stoop / crouch, lift and climb / balance as needed.Corrected or uncorrected visual acuity in at least one eye of 20 / 40 or better.Ability to operate office equipment requiring the use of one hand.Ability to push and pull patients in stretchers and wheelchairs.Corrected or uncorrected hearing capacity to enable suitable telephone communication skills.Ability to work in clinical environment with a moderate noise level.E / O / E
