Overview :

Sentara Healthcare is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work on the Same Day Surgery Unit at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, located in Virginia Beach.

Hours / Shift :

FLEXI (as needed) dayshift. Hours will fall Mon-Fri dayshift as needed.

Department / Position Overview :

This position will mostly be in the PreOp and Phase II area of our same day surgery unit. The main roles will be triaging patients for surgery, helping patients get dressed after surgery, taking out IVs, ambulating patients to the restroom / bedpans, taking patients out to meet their drivers at their vehicle, cleaning stretchers and rooms. We are looking for someone that is interested in this fast-paced, non-traditional role.

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification / Licensure

• American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum requirements : Must have one of the following

Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or

Experience

One year of prior health care experience preferred.
