Description :

The unit comprises 35 beds with 160 staff members.

Day shift includes 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Transport Tech, 1 Secretary, and 1 Scheduler.

Night shift includes 2 charge nurses, 21 RNs, 4 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Secretary.

Patient ratios include 1 : 1 or 2 : 1 for laboring patients, 2 : 1 for Antepartum, and 2 : 1 for PACU.

The unit utilizes equipment such as Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics FM, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless FM.

Electronic medical records are managed through CPN (Centricity) and Meditech.

Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, PACU recovery, and antepartum care / testing.

Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring is a standard practice.

Scrub color is royal blue.

Protocols include Pitocin and Cervical Ripening Policies, as well as Magnesium Sulfate, Hydralazine, and Labetalol protocols.

The unit has received a Baby Friendly designation.

Additional information includes a 13 Bed Client Assessment Center for triage of pregnant patients and 24 / 7 ancillary services, including anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist.

This unit provides an opportunity to work with new equipment and technology, alongside a tenure and experienced staff.
