Global Technology Director
Eaton Corporation is looking for a Global Technology Director. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director will be responsible for leading a global team of scientists and engineers and providing strategic direction in the field of Energy Systems (including integration and control of distributed energy resources, DC distribution and EVCI, grid intelligence, and transportation electrification) within Eaton's Research Lab Group. This position will be based in Eaton's Research Lab (co-located with NREL) in Golden, Colorado.
Essential Functions :
Provide leadership across the division to drive collaborative strategies and solutions to ensure active leadership from management and ownership by all employees.
Build strategic relationships with external customers and internal and external ecosystems to develop and implement technology and commercial strategies and translate them into solutions across various applications and markets.
Partner closely with leadership at both the group and sector levels within technology and operations.
Be a critical champion in driving the lab's advancements in more electric mobility solutions and the emerging requirements of a flexible grid.
Connect the lab's initiatives to the "Voice of The Customer" to increase market share in the development and growth of technology roadmaps in intelligent power management solutions.
Be a partner in the paradigm shift within the technology model with a clear focus on building a connective electric ecosystem.
Responsibility for developing and maintaining relationships with the external technical community and academia and leveraging these partnerships to develop research programs and obtain government funding to advance research in the area of energy systems as relevant for Eaton.
Provide leadership to the department in terms of guidance, coaching and development of the technical staff; selection and retention of employees; and administrative leadership for the department.

A track record of demonstrated success in influencing technology and business leaders with respect to a long-term technology vision, and the appropriate agenda and plans for implementation.
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
Ability to lead effectively in a matrix organization, in virtual teams (across different locations), and cross-cultural environments.
Ability to effectively interact with others, establishing open, candid, and trusting relationships.
Ability to influence others through utilization of leadership skills.
Required Qualifications :
7 years of engineering experience in power distribution systems, smart grids and microgrids, distributed generation or energy storage along with an equal number of years in applied research, new product development or program management.
3 years of experience managing a highly talented technology team, which includes well-regarded technical talent, across a broad international footprint.
Demonstrated experience in building organizational technology capabilities through talent acquisition, training and development, and a motivated leadership style that results in increased levels of performance.
Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Education :
An undergraduate degree is required. A Master's degree and / or PhD is preferred.
