Position Summary
The Driver provides safe and reliable transportation for clients, staff, and program-related needs in compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and vehicle safety standards. This position ensures clients arrive to appointments, recovery meetings, and program activities on time while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and a supportive environment consistent with the mission of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients to and from scheduled appointments, meetings, groups, or community activities.
- Adhere to all Illinois traffic laws and agency transportation policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage sheets, and trip documentation.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding schedule changes, vehicle maintenance needs, or client concerns.
- Assist clients in entering and exiting vehicles safely, providing accommodations when necessary.
- Uphold confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards.
- Ensure the vehicle is fueled, cleaned, and ready for scheduled transports.
- Support staff with errands, supply runs, and other transportation needs related to agency operations.
- Report all incidents, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or GED required.Experience : Prior experience in human services, transportation, or recovery-related work preferred.Licensure :Valid Illinois drivers license with a clean driving record.
Must be insurable under agency insurance policy.CPR / First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).Skills & Competencies :Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain boundaries and professionalism with clients.Reliable, punctual, and organized.Knowledge of local geography and community resources preferred.Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (for assisting clients with small bags, supplies, etc.)Ability to assist clients with mobility limitations as needed.Work Schedule
Flexible schedule; may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.Part-time or full-time depending on agency requirements.Compensation
