Job description
- Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our surgical team. The RNFA will provide direct assistance to surgeons during operative procedures, ensure patient safety, and contribute to high-quality perioperative care. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, including tissue handling, suturing, and wound closureProvide preoperative and postoperative patient care in collaboration with the surgical teamMonitor patient status and vital signs during procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocolsPrepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and instrumentsCollaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomesDocument patient care activities accurately in medical recordsEducate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care plansSupport continuous improvement initiatives in surgical practices and patient safetyRequired QualificationsCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) licenseCompletion of an accredited RNFA programMust have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety standardsPreferred Qualifications (if any)Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degreePrior experience assisting in complex surgical specialties (e.g., cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurosurgery)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationCertifications (if any)RN license (required)RNFA certification (required)BLS certification (required)ACLS certification (preferred)
