Job Description
Job Description
Summary :
A Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring product quality across the entire production lifecycle, from incoming materials to final assembly. This includes inspecting imported raw materials (such as metal stock or components) to verify they meet specifications before use. The role involves hands-on inspections, data analysis, documentation, and collaboration with production teams to maintain compliance with industry standards like ISO or ASTM, minimize defects, and support efficient operations in processes like extrusion, casting, machining, and light assembly.
Responsibilities :
Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain departments to resolve quality issues, provide feedback on process improvements, and train staff on quality protocols; communicate findings to supervisors and contribute to root cause analysis for defects.
Examine raw materials, including imported metals, alloys, or components, upon arrival by conducting visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and material verification tests to confirm they meet specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements; reject and return unacceptable items to prevent production issues.
Monitor production stages such as metal extrusion (checking for uniform dimensions and surface defects), casting (inspecting for porosity, cracks, or inclusions), machining (verifying tolerances and finishes on machined stock), and light assembly (ensuring proper fit and alignment); use tools like calipers, micrometers, gauges, and hardness testers to measure and test materials in real-time.
Test finished metal goods for defects, functionality, and compliance with blueprints or customer specifications; sample products for destructive or non-destructive testing (e.g., visual checks, dimensional accuracy, or basic material property assessments) before packaging or shipment.
Detect and classify issues such as material imperfections, dimensional deviations, or assembly errors; quarantine defective items, initiate corrective actions, and recommend adjustments to production processes or equipment to prevent recurrence.
Verify that all materials and products align with internal quality policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., for domestic manufacturing), and industry standards; participate in audits and support certification processes.
Record inspection results, including measurements, defects, and test data, in quality reports or digital systems; maintain accurate logs for traceability, audits, and continuous improvement; analyze data to identify trends in non-conformances.
Calibrate and maintain inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy; follow safety protocols during handling of metal goods and testing procedures.
Must Haves :
Clear communication with production, engineering, and supply chain.
Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specs.
Knowledge of metals, alloys, and common manufacturing defects.
Accurate data recording and trend analysis.
Experience with root cause analysis and quality audits.
Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, and domestic manufacturing standards.
Proficient with precision tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, hardness testers).
Capable of tool calibration and maintenance.
Education and Experience :
Required : 2+ years’ experience in quality control or inspection in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred : Experience in metal goods production processes (extrusion, casting, machining, or assembly).
Demonstrated record of working with ISO / ASTM compliance and quality documentation systems.
Relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician, NDT Level I / II) (preferred).
Physical Requirements :
Physically able to work in manufacturing conditions.
