Our proprietary electro-swing process, developed at MIT, enables carbon dioxide and other acid gasses to be captured with up to 80% less energy and 70% less cost than conventional approaches. We are backed by institutional investors and based in Boston.
Verdox seeks to hire a highly motivated EHS / Lab Manager to support laboratory and prototyping activities, ranging from safety compliance, to facilities maintenance, to equipment and supply purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage lab and site safety in compliance with applicable regulations, with a focus on chemical, materials, and electrical safety
- Coordinate safety, health, and environmental training for employees
- Develop and implement safety procedures and policies for wet lab, shop, and office areas headquarters
- Manage chemical inventory, ensure proper storage, handling, use and disposal of chemicals, compressed gasses and other lab materials
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment through oversight of permits, EHS documentation, and other regulatory compliance items
- Support facility expansion and scale-up activities, including chemistry scale-up, engaging and managing contractors and consultants when necessary
- Ensure proper supply of materials and personal protective equipment (PPE) for headquarters
- Ensure proper maintenance, usage, and installation of lab equipment and supplies, including appropriate scheduled / preventative maintenance and calibration of lab equipment
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, laboratory technology or related field with at least 5 years of experience supporting or working in a labExperience as safety lead in where potentially hazardous chemicals and gases are regularly usedExperience scaling-up chemistry and knowledge of safe procedures for taking small batches to multi-liter reactorsFunctional understanding of relevant laboratory safety standards and regulationsAbility to identify, own and complete tasks with little to no directionWillingness to work and contribute in areas outside of core competencies to meet the company’s immediate needsStart-up attitude - adapting to changing priorities, thriving in small cross-functional teams, and delivering impactful resultsIf you are interested in applying for this job please press the Apply Button and follow the application process.
