Under the direction of the Sr. Director of\nEmployee and Labor Relations, you will provide leadership, guidance,\ninterpretation and training to managers and supervisors on UC Policy and\ncontract interpretation. You will serve as senior resource for labor relations\nand contract interpretation. In this role, you will actively participate in\nlocal and system-wide bargaining, including drafting / reviewing / modifying\nproposals, soliciting feedback from stakeholders and clients on proposed\nchanges; communicate changes to managers and supervisors and serve as a primary\nresource in change implementation.

As our Labor Relations Manager, you will\ncoordinate and direct grievance process to ensure compliance with contract\nprovisions and consistency in raising procedural issues, provide guidance and\nassistance to managers and supervisors regarding interpretation, compliance and\nenforcement of collective bargaining agreements and HEERA provisions and\nprovide guidance to management on grievance and arbitration procedures; make\nrecommendations regarding the resolution of grievances when appropriate. You\nwill assist in the readiness for arbitration, including documentation and\nwitness preparation. You will coordinate timely / accurate responses to\ninformation requests; organize and lead meetings between managers and employee\norganizations and assist management during labor activity. You will facilitate\non-going communication and working relationships with employee organization\nrepresentatives and coordinate and facilitate local Labor Management Meetings. You\nwill also routinely liaise with union representatives and endeavor to resolve\nissues / concerns at the lowest level possible.

Annual salary range : $116,300 to $264,600 Annually

Qualifications

\n

  • 7+\n years of progressive experience in employment related matters and\n unionized environments

\n

  • Advanced\n knowledge of public sector laws / requirements; healthcare industry,\n higher education preferred
  • \n

  • Advanced\n knowledge of labor / employment law and the principles and techniques of\n labor negotiations.
  • \n

  • Ability\n to analyze and draft proposals for negotiations, settlements, other\n employment agreements
  • \n

  • Advanced\n analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations,\n demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • \n

  • Skill\n in writing concise, clear, relevant and persuasive documents, including\n correspondence, case analyses, settlement agreements.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated\n presentation skills, i.e., grievance meetings, trainings, panels.
  • \n

  • Advanced\n knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of\n functional area and understands how work impacts other areas in Human\n Resources and the organization.
  • \n

  • Ability\n to build relationships and work collaboratively with other UCLA\n offices, the UC Office of the President and other UC campuses.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated\n ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals\n effectively.
  • \n

  • MS\n Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc).
  • \n

  • Bachelor's\n degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and\n experience.
