Job description

Here at Aspire we are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist, to work in a classroom setting in the Folcroft, PA area! This is a contracted position.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assessment and Diagnosis
  • : Evaluate patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities through standardized tests, observations, and interviews.
  • Therapeutic Interventions
  • : Provide therapy to improve articulation, language skills, fluency (e.g., stuttering), voice quality, and social communication skills.
  • Patient Education
  • : Educate patients, caregivers, and families about communication and swallowing disorders, offering strategies for improved communication at home and in social settings.
  • Progress Monitoring
  • : Track patient progress, update treatment plans, and document outcomes in patient records.
  • Collaboration
  • : Work closely with doctors, teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Prevention and Advocacy
  • : Offer preventive services, including early intervention for children with speech or language delays, and advocate for better understanding of speech and language disorders.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Education
  • : A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure
  • : State licensure or certification is required to practice as an SLP, and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) may be preferred.
  • Knowledge
  • : In-depth knowledge of speech and language development, disorders, and treatment techniques.
  • Communication Skills
  • : Strong ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Patience and Empathy
  • : Ability to build rapport with patients, especially those with communication challenges.
  • Critical Thinking
  • : Ability to assess, analyze, and adapt treatment plans as needed based on patient progress.
  • Work Environment :

  • K-8 in a Autistic Support Classroom - full caseload
  • 2 schools (Elementary and Kindergarten)
  • Key Qualities :

  • Empathy and compassion, especially when working with children or elderly patients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with patients and their families.
  • Patience and perseverance in working through the challenges that may arise with speech and language disorders.
  • Pay : Up to $10.00 per hour
