Overview

An established private real estate credit platform is seeking a senior investment leader to oversee portfolio management, credit strategy, and fund performance. The Managing Director of Portfolios will guide investment decisions, drive capital deployment, and lead a team managing a $900M+ portfolio across diverse property types and borrower segments. This is a key leadership opportunity for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Investment and Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead investment strategy and execution across senior and subordinate debt positions.
  • Manage portfolio allocation across sectors, geographies, and credit profiles.
  • Evaluate and approve transactions, ensuring alignment with fund objectives and credit standards.
  • Oversee underwriting, structuring, and closing of new investments.

Performance and Risk Management

  • Monitor portfolio health, borrower performance, and return metrics.
  • Lead valuation and credit review processes.
  • Strengthen portfolio governance and ensure compliance with fund policies.
  • Identify market trends and strategic opportunities for enhanced performance.
  • Investor Engagement and Reporting

  • Partner with investor relations and finance teams to deliver clear, data-driven updates.
  • Present performance insights and portfolio analyses to investors.
  • Support fundraising initiatives with detailed reporting and presentations.
  • Team Development and Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor investment professionals and analysts.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to refine fund strategy and scale the platform.
  • Foster a culture of precision, accountability, and partnership.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or Economics; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 8–15 years of experience in real estate credit, structured finance, or private debt.
  • Proven success managing institutional portfolios above $500 million AUM.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and leadership skills.
  • Experience leading teams and driving results in an entrepreneurial setting.
