Position Summary
Position Summary : We are seeking a motivated System Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating electric distribution system design, improvements, and operations. The position involves directing line design personnel, providing engineering expertise on system construction and maintenance, and performing detailed system modeling and analysis to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or a related field), with at least 2 years of electric utility engineering experience—preferably with a rural electric distribution system. EIT certification is preferred, with an expectation to pursue PE licensure. Strong leadership, technical problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
Job Functions
- Perform and direct activities related to planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of staking engineers in accordance with established policies, plans, and company objectives.
- Coordinate electric planning and line design engineering functions within the Distribution Services Department.
- Provide input and coordination to company consultants on methods of system design, construction, maintenance, and operation.
- Develop member support, understanding, and acceptance of the Distribution Services Department activities as they pertain to the membership.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required. A B.S. in Engineering Technology or another related engineering degree will be considered.Minimum of two years' experience in the development and implementation of electric utility system engineering plans and programs, with demonstrated ability to lead a team.Three to five years of experience with a rural electric distribution system is preferred.EIT certification is preferred, with an interest and ability to achieve PE licensure.Required Qualifications
Ability to direct the work of Line Design personnel.Provide engineering advice on methods of electrical system design, construction, maintenance, and operations to employees and members.Design and develop plans and schedules for electric distribution system improvement requirements.Comfort and willingness to perform detailed engineering analysis using company system modeling and coordination software.Direct corrections to voltage, power factor, and load factor issues.Perform regular reviews and analyses to identify methods for improving safety, productivity, and continuity of electrical service.Prepare contracts for line construction, maintenance, and system improvements, and assist in supervising contractors.Communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and other stakeholders.Be available to assist in dispatch during emergencies.Work effectively on a daily basis with diverse teams and members.Communicate patiently, respectfully, and effectively with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.Maintain regular and reliable work attendance.Benefits
