Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced technical project management professional with a full understanding of project management frameworks and methods, relevant policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues.

Demonstrates competency in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Manages projects of diverse scope, size, impact, budget and / or project team size.

The Impact Monitoring Platform for AI in Clinical Care (IMPACC) Project Manager will report directly to the IMPACC Faculty Director.

Responsible for establishing the project tracking / reporting and risk management activities and overseeing project management of multiple complex projects.

This position requires the skills to manage and direct engineers, design and operations representatives and other team members to successfully complete these projects on time and within defined budget.

Must demonstrate the ability to organize, assign, track and follow up on issues across multiple streams of work and manage resources to meet established deadlines or escalate in a timely fashion.

The incumbent must possess excellent organizational skills, pay attention to details, understand the needs of the customers, be knowledgeable about IT infrastructure and design and keep abreast of health system policies and procedures.

Should be able to run a complex program managing competing priorities and conflicts for limited resources with minimum supervision and the ability to understand new technologies and concepts quickly and be able to apply them to their projects appropriately.

Should be able to fulfill both operational and academic goals in parallel.

Should possess the ability to influence people that do not directly report to them and hence must possess strong inter-personal skills such as team building, consensus building, diplomacy, persuasiveness and the ability to create a positive a work environment.

This position will focus on developing measures and platform requirements / delivery, and support associated academic products that publicize the work.

This will require high level skills in change management / adoption situations. High levels of autonmy will be needed, as well as the ability to respond to politically challenging and sensitive situations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

The full salary range for this position is $98,300 - $210,300 (Annual Rate). The budgeted salary that DoC-IT reasonably expects to pay for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 (Annual Rate).

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

Department Description

The Division of Clinical Informatics and Digital Transformation (DoC-IT) serves as the academic home for applied clinical informatics researchers within the UCSF Department of Medicine.

DoC-IT also serves as a coordinating entity with key internal and external digital stakeholders across all UCSF mission areas, schools, departments, and divisions.

The Division is also the home of UCSF's Clinical Informatics Fellowship, and partners with other UCSF entities to develop new education and training programs.

Lastly, DoC-IT forges novel partnerships with UCSF health systems, other UCSF affiliates, and industry partners to ensure that our research has real-world impact.

DoC-IT will be leading the launch of IMPACC in partnership with UCSF Health. UCSF Health invests more than $25M annually in capital and operating dollars on projects requiring Information Technology and Clinical Systems (IT / CS) resources to implement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Requires three or more years of project management experience, principles, theories, and concepts
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in Health Care Industry
  • Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives
  • Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies
  • Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent logic, verbal and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques
  • Ability to work outside of office hours
  • Proven leadership ability. Effective problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments
  • Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress. Demonstrated highly advanced organization and project management skills.

Demonstrated strong conceptual and planning skills to analyze projects of broad and diverse scope. Understands the cost impact of projects, project tracking tools and metrics

Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization

  • Experience leading a team of technology professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information across disciplines. Understands how projects relate to other business strategies and initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery.
  • Experience working with EPIC
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • EPIC Certification in one or more Clinical or Revenue Cycle application(s)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Certification in Agile / Scrum roles (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CPO)
