Responsibilities Work on a Med / Surg Orthopedics unit in an acute care setting with trauma level 3 Unit has 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5 Patient population includes orthopedic (total joints, fractures), medical (COPD, diabetes, sepsis, pneumonia), wounds, dementia, and behavioral health 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling and every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights) Floating required to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and behavioral health unit Uses Epic EMR system Charge nurse present each shift and nurse aides available with a ratio of 1 : 10 Role involves caring for diverse cases including joint replacements, fractures, chronic conditions, acute illness, and addiction or behavioral health issues Unit practices hourly rounding and bedside shift reports Expect to adapt to patient population shifts and learn new skills as needed First week includes classroom orientation and one 12-hour shift on the unit Navy blue scrubs required, artificial nails are prohibited No titration of drips required; common drips include heparin, IV antibiotics, and narcotics Holiday coverage required as per unit guidelines All requested RTO (time off) must be provided prior to consideration and no additional RTO will be approved Requirements Active IA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration Minimum of one year recent acute care RN experience Current BLS certification required upon consideration Must pass a unit-specific open book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and provide a valid driver's license Candidates must not have been employed in any capacity by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year References required : one supervisor from within last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-641043.
