Supervisor Operations

Evergy's largest generating facility, Jeffrey Energy Center, is actively searching for a multi-faceted and motivated employee to become an Operations Supervisor. The position offers a unique blend of challenge and reward and is best described as the ownership and operability of all plant systems. This role will require that an applicant be highly adaptable, confident and hard working. As a Supervisor, you will need to foster a culture of positivity and be able to work in difficult and stressful situations. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading plant operating personnel in the safe, professional, reliable, efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective operation of the power plant. Specific duties include :

• Lead and guide the development of individual team members and the operations team for optimum performance.
• Regularly coach, counsel, advise, and evaluate the performance of crew members and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Participate in ensuring the plant meets all environmental regulations.
• Ensure the quality of pre-job briefings, communication, lock out tag out, procedure compliance and shift turn-over.
• Serve as Incident Commander during upset conditions.
• Fully support and actively participate in efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance including : reliability centered maintenance studies, equipment testing and inspection, root cause analysis and heat rate improvement efforts.
• Manage O&M spending by managing overtime, shift schedules, equipment inspections, repairs, and unit performance.
• Ensure work documentation is accurate, complete and entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Collaborate with Planning to develop and manage a weekly schedule for equipment maintenance. Make daily work assignments that support the weekly schedule.
• Communicate information up, down and across the organization.
• Share information openly to foster an atmosphere of trust and cooperation within the support group and operations group; create a strategic framework for the effective operation of groups; and provide work direction and resources to effectively operate the plant.
• Periodically supervise personnel from other crafts on an as needed basis.
