General Summary
The Healthcare Contracting Specialist is responsible for managing and executing provider and vendor contracts within a healthcare organization. This role ensures timely onboarding, credentialing, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. The specialist serves as a key liaison between internal departments and external partners, facilitating network development and maintaining accurate contract records. With a strong understanding of healthcare operations, payer requirements, and managed care principles, the Contracting Specialist supports strategic initiatives by negotiating favorable terms, resolving contracting issues, and optimizing provider relationships. The position requires exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments including Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance. Strong computer skills are necessary for the input and maintenance of data, as well as for performing research regarding licensing or credentialing requirements in their area. Interaction with other medical professionals, office personnel, and the public is standard. A Contracting Specialist is preferred to hold 1+ years of seniority working as a Contracting Specialist and will be familiar with majority of carrier requirements per state.

Draft, review, and negotiate provider or vendor contracts
Coordinate credentialing and onboarding processes
Maintain contract databases and track renewal timelines
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies
