Job Details – Maryland Surgical Tech Travel Assignment Location : Clinton, Maryland (20735) – Washington, D.C. metro area

Healthcare Setting : Acute Inpatient OR, Cardiovascular OR (CVOR), Outpatient OR

Contract Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 1 / 2025 – End : 3 / 2 / 2026)

Shifts : Day shifts, rotating 4x10-hour (07 : 00–17 : 30 and 09 : 00–19 : 30)

Hours per Week : 40

On-Call / Weekend Requirement : On call for 3–4 weekdays and 2–3 weekends (OB call required), including either a Saturday or Sunday within a 6-week period; holiday call coverage required (Christmas 2025 or New Year's Day 2026)

Charting System : Cerner (Cerner experience required)

Qualifications – Certified Surgical First Assistant Jobs Minimum 2 years of experience as an OR Tech First Assist or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)

At least 1 prior travel healthcare assignment

Valid NBSTSA CSFA certification

Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)

Experience in acute inpatient OR, CVOR, and outpatient OR settings preferred

Expertise in instrument processing, isolation precautions, laser safety, and sterilization / disinfection

Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records (EMR) system

Community hospital experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred

Ability to provide two supervisor references

Active compact or Maryland state surgical tech license

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Key Responsibilities – Surgical Tech First Assist Assist surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures, including general, orthopedic, vascular, plastics, and robotic surgeries

Suture all wound layers, including muscle and fascia

Tie and ligate clamped vessels or tissues

Apply wound dressings (liquid or spray occlusive)

Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions, laser safety, and sterilization / disinfection protocols

Process and prepare surgical instruments for procedures

Participate in on-call rotation and provide coverage during holidays and weekends as required

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care

Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate charting and surgical documentation
