Editorial Page Editor, Las Vegas Sun

The Las Vegas Sun seeks an accomplished Editorial Page Editor to oversee our award-winning editorial and opinion pages. The ideal candidate is comfortable writing multiple editorials per week as well as selecting syndicated columns and letters to the editor for the Op-Ed page. The editorial page editor works with members of the community on guest columns and conducts sufficient research on topics, including interviewing policymakers and other sources when needed, to support a compelling opinion and deliver a persuasive position for the public. The editorial page editor is a critical member of the editorial board and is expected to suggest ideas to other board members and ultimately craft the editorials for the newspaper. The editorial page editor is also expected to participate in candidate interviews in preparation for Sun endorsements in election years.

The Las Vegas Sun is a family-owned daily newspaper with over 60 years of history. The successful candidate can expect to have significant impact on the future of the state as civic discussions on the Sun\'s editorial pages influence public opinion and public policy.

Responsibilities

• Write multiple editorials per week and select syndicated columns and letters to the Op-Ed page.
• Research topics, interview policymakers and other sources as needed to support compelling opinions.
• Collaborate with the editorial board to craft editorials and generate ideas.
• Participate in candidate interviews in preparation for Sun endorsements in election years.
• Engage with the community, including guest column coordination.
