Role Overview :

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the ID.me Tools Team responsible for our custom in-house built web application that drives our Call Centers and interactions with our Members for Supervised Identity Verification flows. Our teams are also responsible for tools that automate or simplify how our customers, software development teams, data and engineering partners do their jobs with tools like feature flags for applications, data transformation and transmission. Join our team to play a pivotal role in shaping the front door of the premier digital wallet.

The Tools team is responsible for the Support and Admin Tools as well as our vendor products for Video Conferences (Pexip) and Workforce Management. The team uses Ruby on Rails for our full stack web applications, GoLang for APIs and services, Postgresql for our backends all hosted in the cloud. The team is growing to ensure it can build out a best in class secure authentication experience. The team is located in the Mclean VA office.

This role is based out of our Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA offices and requires full-time in-office attendance

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead the technical vision for member support-facing verification UI flows across desktop and mobile web.
• Develop shared UI components to support scalable, multi-product verification workflows.
• Collaborate closely with UX, Design, and Product partners to drive high-impact, customer-first UI work.
• Implement best practices for performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
• Ensure compliance with IAM, security, and data protection standards .
• Mentor engineers and contribute to establishing engineering excellence and best practices .
• Contribute to design system initiatives and maintain a cohesive user experience across products.
• Lead instrumentation and experimentation efforts including A / B testing, analytics , and fraud detection UX .

The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.

Pay Range

$183,367—$230,000 USD
