Position Summary
The Field Safety Officer is a hands-on, field-based position responsible for promoting and ensuring safety compliance across all active job sites. This role supports safe driving practices, observes daily operations, provides real-time coaching, and assists with incident response.
The Field Safety Officer maintains a visible, supportive presence in the field—reinforcing safety expectations, building trust with crews, and helping foster Etico’s proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English / Spanish), confident, calm under pressure, and motivated to help others work safer—not just check boxes.
Key Responsibilities
F ield Safety Oversight
- Conduct daily job site visits to observe safety compliance and identify potential hazards.
- Perform real-time safety observations and provide immediate coaching or correction as needed.
- Confirm that all employees are using required PPE and following safe work practices.
- Support field crews and foremen with job-specific safety questions or clarifications.
- Ensure jobsite hazard and evacuation plans are posted and understood by all crew members.
- Collaborate with supervisors and foremen to enforce Etico’s safety policies and OSHA standards.
Incident Response & Reporting
Respond promptly to jobsite incidents and assist the Safety Manager with documentation and reporting.Participate in investigations to gather facts, identify contributing factors, and recommend corrective actions.Provide support to injured employees and assist with follow-up communications.Maintain organized and accurate records of inspections, training, and incident reports.Training & Communication
Assist with the delivery of field safety training, toolbox talks, and hands-on refreshers.Reinforce new hire safety training by visiting new employees in their first weeks.Educate crews on weekly toolbox topics and ensure materials are accessible and understood.Conduct driver evaluations in the field and ensure compliance with Etico’s Driving Policy.Observe and report unsafe driving behaviors.Reinforce safe driving expectations with field staff during site visits.Provide feedback to the Safety Manager regarding employees who may need retraining.Culture & Engagement
Promote safety as a core company value in every field interaction.Act as a visible, approachable presence that supports—not polices—our teams.Participate in safety huddles, tailgate meetings, and project planning sessions.Empower employees to use their Stop Work Authority and voice safety concerns.Skills & Qualifications
Required :
Bilingual (Spanish & English)Minimum 4 years of construction safety experienceOSHA 30-Hour Construction CertificationFirst Aid and CPR CertifiedValid driver’s license with a clean, insurable recordStrong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skillsExperience in field safety within construction or a related industryAbility to read and interpret safety regulations and proceduresPreferred :
Forklift Train-the-Trainer CertificationOSHA 510 / 500 CertificationProficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile safety appsExperience conducting field audits or inspectionsPhysical Demands & Work Environment
Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and climb on active job sites.Lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally push / pull over 100 lbs.Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and dust.Operate vehicles and equipment as needed for inspections or demonstrations.Other Requirements
