Position Description :

The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Geographic Education to begin Fall 2026 . The successful candidate will be appointed the "Jesse H. Jones Distinguished Chair in Geographic Education. We seek applicants with an outstanding record of scholarship in geographic education who are also recognized leaders in the field of geographic education. The position requires the sustained maintenance of an active research agenda, teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels, advising Masters / PhD students, and serving as Director of the Gilbert M. Grosvenor Center for Geographic Education .

Required Qualifications :

• A PhD degree in Geography or a related field.
• An outstanding publication record in geographic education that is commensurate with an associate or full professor and demonstrates the applicant is well-versed in theories of teaching and research in geographic education.
• A record of successful grant acquisition and management in the field of geographic education that is commensurate with an associate or full professor at an institution with high research activity.
• Demonstrated experience providing leadership in geographic education.
• Evidence of teaching at graduate and / or undergraduate levels.
• Experience advising Masters and / or PhD students.
