Accountant Remote / 12 Month Contract
We are seeking a Newly Qualified Accountant to join the dynamic finance team at Alchemy, a rapidly growing business in the trade-in and second-hand technology sector with global ambitions. This is a hands-on, developmental role designed for someone who has recently qualified and is looking to gain broad exposure across core financial processes in a fast-paced commercial environment.
You will support both UK and international operations, getting involved in month-end close, VAT compliance (including margin schemes), intercompany transactions, and payroll support. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow within an ambitious, high-performing team and make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journals and reconciliations
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist in variance analysis
- Assist with preparation and submission of VAT returns (including Margin VAT and Standard VAT)
- Maintain and update fixed asset registers
- Perform intercompany and multi-currency reconciliations
- Assist with domestic and international payroll processing
- Prepare and process purchase invoices (inventory and non-inventory)
- Review proforma and final invoices, ensuring correct VAT treatment
- Help manage supplier queries and the accounts payable process
- Support cashflow and bank reconciliations
- Assist with year-end audit requirements and statutory reporting
- Maintain financial records and ensure appropriate document filing
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and finance system enhancements
- Assist in ad hoc projects and financial analysis as required
About You
Newly qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA)
13 years' relevant experience in industry or practice (internships and placements considered)Strong technical understanding of accounting fundamentalsWorking knowledge of VAT rules; experience with margin VAT is an advantageConfident with reconciliations and preparing financial journalsPrior experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or similar (training can be provided)Proficient in Excel and capable of handling and interpreting dataCommercially aware and willing to learn the nuances of a growing international businessExcellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalCollaborative team player with a proactive, can-do attitudeWillingness to take initiative and continuously develop skillsAbility to manage confidential information professionallyFlexible and open to occasional travel if requiredWhat You Will Get
