Sales Representative – Seafood / Foodservice Distribution
Location : Newark, NJ (tri-state area focus)
Compensation : $65,000 – $85,000 base + quarterly & new-business incentives
Schedule : Monday – Friday, 7 : 30 AM – 4 : 00 PM (in-office during training)
Overview
You will join a well-established seafood import and distribution company with nearly a century of industry experience. We’re looking for a motivated sales professional to manage and grow an existing book of business while also expanding into new accounts. The role blends inside-sales work during onboarding with outside field activities once ramped up.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage a current portfolio of foodservice distributor and retail accounts, primarily within the tri-state region, with opportunity to sell nationally.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensure service excellence and consistent order flow.
- Drive growth through the introduction of new product lines and acquisition of new customers.
- Conduct outbound calls and in-person visits (once field work begins); plan and schedule territory activity.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales leadership, operations, marketing) to align on strategy and execution.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, call logs and account updates.
- Participate in trade shows, product promotions and customer-facing merchandising when appropriate.
- Serve as a professional ambassador of the company, maintaining high standards of integrity and customer service.
Training & Work Environment :
Initial 2-3 months : full-time in office (Newark, NJ) for training and onboarding.After ramp : approximately 1-2 days / week on the road visiting customers; remainder in the office.Travel is mainly within a ~50-60 mile radius.Mileage, tolls and parking reimbursed when on the road.Must have reliable transportation.Qualifications :
Strong preference given to candidates with seafood sales experience; however, foodservice or food-distribution sales experience dealing with distributors is accepted.Demonstrated success managing existing accounts and driving growth.Excellent verbal & written communication, relationship building and negotiation skills.Self-motivated, organized and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.Reliable transportation required.College degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.Compensation & Benefits :
