Job description

About the Role

The Music Teacher designs, implements and facilitates personal, intellectual and social growth by nurturing creativity and providing opportunities for expression beyond the limits and boundaries of written language within a structured teaching and learning environment. This position is located at our Queen St. campus. The hours are Monday - Friday, 7 : 45 - 4 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach music courses, including planning and delivering lessons and monitoring and assessing the progress of each student within a Rich and Structured Learning (RSLE) format;
  • The ability to organize and facilitate group, class community performances in a creative way.
  • Partner with various content area teachers to create opportunities for arts incorporation into core content curricula;
  • Act as a key team member; collaborate with colleagues and administrators with student success and effective programming in mind;
  • Maintain open communication with families / guardians regarding the progress of their student;
  • Use Schoolbrains and DeansList to track communication and student progress;
  • Other roles and responsibilities as they become necessary.

Is this You?

  • Two years teaching experience preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in Education or content area preferred
  • ORFF training encouraged
  • African drumming and dance experience preferred but not required
  • You are committed to cultivating anti-racist, culturally responsive and restorative practices;
  • You have earned a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is preferred);
  • Knowledge of experience with, The Common Core Curriculum and MCAS Alternate Assessments;
