Workday Finance Architect
Location : Richmond, VA
In this role, The Workday Financials Architect leads AMS operations for Workday Financial Management, ensuring smooth system performance, accurate financial processing, and scalable enhancements. The role manages AMS support across FDM, Accounting, Procurement, Banking, and Projects.
Responsibilities
Oversee AMS incident, problem, change management and Project enhancements for all Workday Financial modules.
Lead configuration reviews and stabilization for Core Financials, Accounts Payable, Receivable, Banking, Procurement, and Project Accounting.
Analyze month-end and year-end close issues and identify process optimization opportunities.
Support integrations with banks, suppliers, and external financial systems.
Collaborate with Finance, IT, and external auditors to maintain compliance and control.
Assess and prioritize enhancement requests; lead functional and regression testing.
Review new Workday releases and drive feature enablement across financial modules.
Partner with Technical Architect on integration and reporting dependencies.
Provide oversight for data quality, reconciliation, and period-close automation.
Maintain configuration inventory, financial data dictionary, and key process maps.
Participate in Change Control and CAB for AMS releases.
Review SLA metrics, backlog trends, and control adherence.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure financial data consistency across Workday and third-party systems.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Information Systems.
Workday Financials certification mandatory.
8+ years' Workday Financials experience; 4+ years in AMS or Finance system support.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Having proven skill set in role of Project Management with 10+ years of experience.
Proven experience acting as a translator between business and technical teams, with a strong understanding of both HR processes and Workday configuration.
Experience in leading or supporting HRIT projects end-to-end, including requirements gathering, testing, and deployment.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a consultative mindset and ability to influence without authority.
Deep familiarity with Workday tools and functionality; experience with JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar platforms is a plus.
Ability to drive digital transformation and automation in Finance processes.
Strong project management and change leadership skills.
Expertise in data analytics, workforce insights, and reporting tools.
Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
Expertise in Core Financials, FDM, Banking, Procurement, Assets and Projects.
Understanding of Chart of Accounts, journal processing, and reconciliation.
Familiarity with localization for US, Mexico, and India accounting standards.
Strong understanding of Workday Security, Financial reporting, and Integrations
