School Counselor - High School (SY 25-26)

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional SCHOOL COUNSELOR who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience.

Under direction of the school principal and the general direction of the Director of School Counseling, school counselors will adhere to the PPSD Comprehensive School Counseling Program based on the American School Counselor Association National Standards and Competencies and the Rhode Island Framework for School Counseling to foster positive outcomes for all students through education, prevention, early identification and intervention. School counselors will implement a comprehensive data-driven program and practice ASCA's developmental domains of academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social emotional development to serve the needs of all students.

Additionally, school counselors will :

• Become members of a professional learning community where purposeful collaboration, flexibility, innovation and shared decision making are essential
• Support and nurture the academic, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development of all students
• Participate in all district and school-based professional development, including working with internal (coaches) and external (consultants) supports
• Engage in all district-driven curricular and other initiatives as defined by the Providence School Department
• Follow all relevant District procedures and policies.

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin. In PPSD, the teachers and leaders set high expectations for academic achievement, provide equal access to differentiated instruction, and endeavor to close the achievement and opportunity gap among historically marginalized subgroups within the schools.
