Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and utilizing various teaching strategies to support the academic and social development of students with disabilities.
- Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, and other core subjects while addressing individual learning styles.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and early intervention services as needed.
- Foster communication skills among students through various instructional methods.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress towards IEP goals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay updated on best practices in special education.
- Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience :
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities, including autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs.
- Strong background in early childhood education or special education with classroom experience.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and tutoring techniques.
- Knowledge of behavioral health strategies and behavior management practices.
- Experience in mentoring or providing support to other educators is a plus.
- Understanding of deaf education principles is beneficial but not required.
