Assists in the direct care and management of children, adolescents, and adults, as determined by the Treatment Plan, Program Structure, and presenting issues/behaviors of the patients/residents/students. Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit unpredictable and impulsive behavior to include potential physical aggression. Provides continual supervision, safety, crisis management, and therapeutic interventions. Assists with implementing the program structure and the safe delivery of care to promote wellness of the individual patient/resident/student. Various schedules available some of which provide competitive shift differentials. MHS position schedule can be changed to meet hospital needs.

Cedar Springs Hospital COVID- vaccination mandate:

In accordance with Colorado state public health order, all healthcare workers must be vaccinated, and the Company must verify vaccine status. Pursuant to this public health order, the following modes constitute as proof of vaccination:

• an electronic entry in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS); OR
• an immunization record from a licensed healthcare provider who has administered a COVID- vaccine to an individual who provides services for the facility or agency, specifying the vaccine administered, name and title of the person who administered the vaccine, address of the location where the vaccine was administered, and the date it was administered. A

COVID- Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered would suffice.

Exemptions

• Workers may be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing a signed exemption form indicating one of the following:
• Religious Beliefs
• Qualifying Medical Reason
• To be eligible for an exemption based on Religious Beliefs, the worker must provide a written statement describing the worker’s sincerely held religious beliefs and how those beliefs conflict with Colorado’s August , 1 Public Health Order requiring certain healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-. The company may request supporting documentation to further evaluate the request for religious accommodation.
• To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reason exemption, the worker must provide a written statement signed by a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, or certified nurse midwife licensed in the State of Colorado stating that the COVID- vaccination for the employee, direct contractor, or support staff is medically contraindicated as described in the product labeling or authorized by the FDA. This statement should not describe the underlying medical condition or disability but should indicate the probable duration of the inability to receive the vaccine.
• A record of signed exemption forms and statements submitted in support of the exemption request must be maintained in a confidential HR Medical file, separate from the Personnel File.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements : Requires organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Requires creativity, high energy and problem solving skills. Good verbal and written skills. Ability to rotate shifts and programs, as necessary. Ability to work as one part of a team approach for the care of the patients/residents/students. Demonstrates ability to problem solve, resolve crisis situations, and maintain a calm composure under stressful situations.

Experience/Education : Mental Health Specialists must be at least years of age. Requires either an Associate's degree (equivalent of college credits) OR a High School diploma / equivalent with one year's experience in the human services field. Successful completion of a background check and drug screen required for employment at Cedar Springs Hospital.

Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit unpredictable and impulsive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, and other hazardous waste.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
• Frequently lifts up to pounds.
• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
• Requires frequent pushing, pulling of heavy loads, kneeling, grasping, stooping and bending
• Ability to maintain patient and corporate confidentiality
• Must be able to speak, read and write.
• Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Requires repetitive use of hands and light lowering of objects
