Overview

PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise of engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources.

Responsibilities

• The Welder welds metal components with appropriate equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and / or repair a variety of marine equipment and structural components per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule. Performs SMAW, GMAW, and other welding techniques in all positions of various metal and alloys. Must be familiar with ABS & NAVSEA standards.
• Performs welding duties using wire welding GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or SMAW
• Welds steel components with welding equipment as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions. Welds range from simple tacks to complex welds, performed in varying positions
• Works includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and / or equipment products
• Operates and / or uses related equipment and tools including forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, and Air Arc
• Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs and completes daily check sheets
• Reads, understands, and follows job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures
• Maintains level of work performance in accordance with standards and / or job order specifications
• Participates in process and product development and improvement programs, teams, and focus groups
• Maintains a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; keeps work area clean and cleans up after project completion or end of shift as appropriate
