About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Obstetrics

License : Active Illinois license or confirmation of application process

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, C-EFM, NRP

Must-Have : Stabilization of newborns and experience as Circulator for C-sections

Description :

Unit consists of 4 labor and delivery beds and 1 operating room suite.

There are 4 triage beds and 6 postpartum beds.

The unit handles approximately 645 births per year.

Ratios adhere to AWHONN guidelines.

Common diagnoses include low-risk obstetric patients and stable newborns at or above 36 weeks gestation.

High-risk obstetric patients are managed in collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine specialists during pregnancy.

The facility holds a Level 1 perinatal / nursery designation for the state.

RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin and Magnesium.

Charge Nurse and House Supervisor positions are available per shift.

Certified Nurse Aides serve as OB techs and act as surgical scrub techs for all C-sections.

Central monitoring is provided for fetal, newborn, and adult monitoring.

RNs and Providers are responsible for reading fetal heart rate strips.

Telemetry is available on the unit.

Unit uses an electronic fetal monitoring system and epic charting system.

The schedule mandates 3 weekends in a 6-week period and includes holiday rotation requirements.

Floating to other units may be necessary to assist with high-risk fall patients or behavioral health cases.

Scrub color is the individual's choice, but hospital-provided scrubs must be worn for C-sections.

Unit-specific orientation lasts 2 to 3 days.
